Adam Kaupert Kabul, Afghanistan Travel Blog

Cheers gang its Adam Kaupert here checking in with you from. Greetings from an unlikely destination, Kabul Afghanistan. It’s a business trip but since Kabul is one of the biggest cities in Afghanistan, I’ve decided to include it on this year’sAdam Kaupert tour of the world’s largest cities.Kabul is not only one of the largest citieswith a rising population of over 4 and a half million people but it is the capital of Afghanistan as well. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Since Kabul is said to be over three thousand years old you can see relics from ancient civilizations. The city is located high up in a narrow valley between the Hindu Kush Mountains. I only had a short time to spend here and even less time to pursue leisure options but since it is such an exotic destination I decided to try to get a feel of the local color even though this place is literally a warzone. Because of its mountainous setting in the Hindu Kush Mountains the weather can change as fronts roll in off the mountains at a moments notice. The airport is a short drive from the Heart of Kabul and is reasonably safe as there is a heavy military presence here. Visitors need to obtain a foreigner registration card. Avoid dealing with the minister of the Interior because it is notoriously difficult to get anything done here. Taxis are available from the airport but your best bet will be to secure your transportation before arrival.
