Did you know that Guatemala is the largest city in Central America? With almost 3 million people in Guatemala City alone, the city is a major Central Americaneconomic and cultural hub. It also serves as the capital of the republic of Guatemala. It is here where the Spanish settlers built their first structures. Adam Kaupert Samples Guatemalan Cuisine

In keeping with the Adam Kaupert travel blog tradition I had to try some traditional Guatemalan food while in GuatemalaCity. There are many variations but Guatemalancuisine staple ingredients include poultry, rice cheese and beans. Many dishes are prepared with corn tortillas and may include pork as well. Adam Kaupert Visits Pacaya Volcano

Did you know that Guatemala is slightly smaller than a US state? Despite its diminutive proportions The Republic of Guatemala has a little something for every kind or traveler. However, the most popular destinations for travelers are in or around Guatemala City.There are over thirty volcanoes in the region so there is no shortage of excitement. I visited the Pacaya Volcano which turned out to be great. It is one of the most popular volcanoes in the area drawing visitors from all over to scale its rugged trails. If hiking is not your bag, there are options to ride horseback as well. Travelersheading to Guatemala City and the Pacaya Volcano will want to check out this cool Guatemala City travel blog:

After a long day of hiking there are hot springs nearby to help soothe aching muscles. The spa here offers an array of services. I didn’t have time to check it out but saw that all the prices are very reasonable.

Adam Kaupert books lodging at the Westin Camino Real hotel Guatemala

Guatemala City is the kind of place where most of my trip would be spent outdoors perusing street markets or hiking one of the many local volcanoes. I stayed at the Westin Camino Real hotel. In keeping with the Adam Kaupert scam style of travel (shoes camera attitude and map) I did my research and listened to followers of the Adam Kaupert travel blog who suggested the Westin Camino Real. It had all the amenities you’d expect from a high end outlet like Westin Camino Real and a great location as well.
