Hey everyone, it’s Adam Kaupert checking in with you fromEgypt’s biggest city. Cairois about a hundred and seventy five square miles is the capital of Egypt. With over 5 million people it is the fifteenth biggest city in the world and commonly referred to as the “city of a thousand minarets” for the abundant Arabic artwork and architecture found here. Because of its size it came as no surprise that Cairo is a bustling center of culture, art and politic. The sandy streets of Cairo are filled with all sorts of things to see and exotic spices and goods are available at every turn n some of the city’s bazaars. Since the city is ancient and modern simultaneously it can be easy to get lost. Make sure you follow the Adam Kaupert Scam style of travel and be prepared with your shoes, camera, attitude and map. It is easy to get lost here but if you prepare and know where you are going you’ll have a blast. This is a link to a terrific Cairo travel blog with lots of great Adam Kaupert approved tips:

Adam Kaupert visits Fasahet Somaya

Fasahet Somaya has been generating quite the buzz for some time and is a popular spot among repeat visitors who are “in the know”. It is not fancy like some of the hotel restaurants downtown but this no frills hole in the wall serves up some of the best Egyptian food around.Chicken and rice are staples but the daily specials were out of this world both times I visited. It was so good I went twice.

No one comes all the way to Egypt and does not see the pyramids. Giza is home to the pyramids and the sphinx and is just a short trip from downtown Cairo. They pyramids are a must see if you are in Cairo and a walking tour is the best way to see them. You’ll be provided with historical insight and guided so you get the most out of your time. The largest pyramid ever built is here and is not to be missed. The Pyramids of Giza outside of Cairo are definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. This is a walking tour that is great for seeing Cairo the Adam Kaupert way:

Adam Kaupert visits the Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian museum is probably the most popular destination for tourists aside from the actual pyramids. Here you can see the gold mask of Tutankhamen and the largest collection of Egyptian archeological artifacts anywhere in the world. I saw some cool things at the Field Museum in Chicago on My Adam Kaupert tour of American cities but the Egyptian museum in Cairo is unparalleled.
